Il est très commun dans toute la France, sauf au sud. Ses glands ont un pédoncule court. Son bois a les mêmes usages que celui du chêne pédonculé. Les moulins de Moret sur Loing produisaient le tan à partir de son écorce.

The Durmast Oak grows commonly in all of France except in the South. Its acorns have a short peduncle. Its wood is used much like that of the Common Oak. The mills of the town of Moret-sur-Loing, on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest, produced bank from the bark.
