Androuet du Cerceau
écrivit "Tout ce que le Roi pouvait recouvrer
d'excellent c'était pour son Fontainebleau".
C'est le début des collections nationales avec la Joconde et le St Jean Baptiste de Vinci,
la Belle Jardinière de Raphaël, en tout une quarantaine de toiles exposées
dans les appartements des bains.
En 1540 Le Primatice rapporte d'Italie 125 statues, bustes et torses.
C'est dans ce cadre qu'en 1539 François 1er donne des fêtes somptueuses,
pour recevoir l'Empereur Charles Quint et pour le baptême d'Elisabeth de France.
Il y séjourne pour la dernière fois en 1546.
Sous le règne de Henri II,
on installe les premiers
"poêles", nouveauté venue d'Europe centrale, auprès desquels le roi installe
son appartement.

Jean Androuet Du Cerceau wrote: “Everything that the king could collect that was excellent was for his Fontainebleau”. It was the beginning of national collections with Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and St John the Baptist, Raphael’s "Belle Jardinière", in all around 40 paintings exhibited in the bathroom apartments. In 1540 Primaticcio brought 125 statues, busts and torsos over from Italy.
Against this backcloth in 1539 François I laid on sumptuous festivities, to entertain Emperor Charles Quint
as guest and for the christening of Elisabeth of France.
The king stayed there for the last time in 1546.
The reign of Henri II
saw the installation of the first “stoves”.
These were novel appliances, introduced from Central Europe. The king set up his apartment near these.
The Ballroom was finished.

The Renaissance´s influence continued to gain strength
under the reign of Henri II. France and Italy were at the forefront of advances in the arts and sciences.
The army was the finest in Europe, following successes against Spain and reorganisation.
However, government left much to be desired and, although France shone in certain aspects, the country was poor.  Henri II 1547-1559 Sous le règne d'Henri II, la renaissance continue de s'affirmer, la France et l'Italie occupent le premier rang dans les arts et les sciences.
L'armée, après ses succès contre les Espagnols, réorganisée, est la première d'Europe.
Par contre l'administration a été médiocre et si la France est brillante elle est pauvre. |
