Henri IV termina l'aile, donnant sur le jardin de Diane, composée de deux galeries superposées. En bas la Galerie des Cerfs, en haut la galerie de la Reine.
La porte Dauphine fermant la Cour Ovale fut achevée en 1608. A cette époque, un groupe d'artistes italiens et français formèrent comme une seconde école de Fontainebleau. Fréminet, chargé du décor des chapelles, exécuta les scènes de la voûte de la chapelle de la trinité. |
Henri IV finished the wing that looks on to Diana’s Garden,
consisting of two galleries one on top of the other. The lower one is the Deer Gallery, the upper one the Queen’s
(or Diana’s) Gallery.
Henri IV created a grand entrance to the palace on the side of the village of Avon.
This development led on to the construction of three buildings that closed off the Kitchen Courtyard.
It was through this majestic gateway, in the form of a vast niche, that sovereigns made their entrance up to 1789.
The Dauphin’s Entrance, which closes off the Oval Courtyard, was finished in 1608.
At this time, a group of Italian and French artists
formed what was like a Second Fontainebleau School.
Fréminet, appointed as decorator for the chapels,
did the scenes that adorn the Trinity Chapel’s vaulted ceiling.
